What is SayBriefly?

SayBriefly is an on-device AI assistant for freelancers and agencies. It reads your emails, captures your meetings, and connects everything to your projects — all processed locally so your raw data never leaves your device.

What platforms does SayBriefly support?

The desktop app runs on macOS 12 Monterey or later (Apple Silicon and Intel). The Chrome extension works in Chrome and Brave. Windows support is planned for a future release.

How do I install the Chrome extension?

Install SayBriefly from the Chrome Web Store, then sign in with the same account you use in the desktop app. The extension reads your Gmail in-browser and sends only a private AI-rewritten summary to your dashboard — never the raw email body.

Does SayBriefly read my emails?

The Chrome extension reads your Gmail in your browser and runs an on-device AI classifier (Prentice Pro) to summarise and categorise each email. Only the AI-generated summary — never the raw email body — is sent to our servers. Your actual emails stay on your device.

What data is stored on your servers?

We store: AI-generated email summaries, meeting transcripts (processed on-device via Apple Speech), project metadata, and your to-do list. Raw email bodies, full audio recordings, and original message content are never uploaded.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Go to Settings → Account → Delete account to permanently remove all your data from our servers. Email [email protected] if you need help.

Why does the extension need access to mail.google.com?

The extension reads your Gmail tab to classify and summarise emails locally using on-device AI. This is the privacy-preserving alternative to requesting OAuth access — your raw email never leaves the browser.

The extension isn't showing any emails. What's wrong?

Make sure you're signed in to the same account in the extension and the desktop app. Open Gmail in a tab, then click the SayBriefly extension icon to trigger a sync. If the issue persists, email us at [email protected].

Does the extension work without the desktop app?

Some features (email recaps, priority tagging) work with the extension alone. However, on-device AI classification, meeting capture, and dictation require the macOS desktop app.

How does meeting capture work?

SayBriefly detects when your microphone is active during a call and automatically starts capturing. It uses Apple's on-device Speech framework to transcribe audio — no audio is uploaded to the cloud. When the call ends, a summary and action items are generated for your dashboard.

How do I use dictation?

Double-tap either Shift key to start dictating. Speak naturally — SayBriefly transcribes locally and inserts text wherever your cursor is. Double-tap Shift again to stop.

Meeting capture isn't working. What should I check?

Make sure the SayBriefly desktop app has microphone and Screen Recording permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security. These are required for capture to work. Restart the app after granting permissions.

Is SayBriefly free?

Yes — email classification and basic recaps are free. Advanced features (AI project briefs, scope alerts, team workspaces) are available on paid plans. Pricing details are at saybriefly.com/download.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Billing in the desktop app, or email [email protected] and we'll cancel immediately.
